January is a big a month for birthdays in our house. Claire’s is January 7th, Logan’s is on the 16th, and mine is the 26th. If Claire had been a little bit more cooperative she might have been born on the 6th, but oh no that wasn’t going to happen. Me having a cooperative child would be like a hipster naming their kid Sally or Larry unironically, simply not the natural order of things. Either way, we’re coming up on my third chance to enjoy cake and ice cream this month, and that’s just as exciting as celebrating another year of life!
Claire’s birthday was on Wednesday and we had her party on Saturday. Woo, two cakes! We got her a gorgeous bracelet from Lorie’s Bangles. Of course Claire’s party was Frozen themed. We only had 9 or 10 kids there, but almost 20 adults. A 2,600 square foot house seems pretty big until you have a kids’ birthday party that’s trapped indoors by the cold. We kept things spread out across the living room, dining room, sun room and eat-in area of the kitchen by setting up stations with crafts and games for the kids to play. Everyone had a great time and I don’t think I’ll ever get all of the glitter out of my carpets.
Logan’s birthday was on a Friday. Super exciting! Logan still isn’t interested in a party, and judging by his reaction to the crowded conditions at Claire’s party he wouldn’t enjoy himself if we did throw him one.
My birthday will be on Monday. I’m headed down to Raleigh in just a bit to hang out with my older sister for the night. I foresee a Chinese buffet and some horror movies in my future, which is the best thing ever. Because I won’t be here for our Sunday “big breakfast” tradition we hit the Downtown Mall this morning (can’t beat brunch at The Nook) and then burned off some energy at McGuffey Park.
Much fun was had. Kids are sufficiently worn out for nap time. Most of my stuff is packed, I just have to get a few more things together and I’ll be ready to roll. Hope everyone has a fun weekend!
